Guangzhou Fastener & Equipment Exhibition held in southern city Guangzhou Fair Center from July 17 to July 20, 2003. This was the first grand exhibition after the epidemic situation "SARS". More than 120 manufacturers from fastener, screw making machine, special die, product heat-treatment, product surface treatment and material industries attended it. During the four-day's exhibition, many visitors came and negotiated enthusiastically. At the exhibition, more than 20 screw making machine manufacturers from Taiwan and mainland made a large proportion, and more than 40 sets of screw making machines included heading machine, thread rolling machine, double cold heading machine, multi-station parts former, nut former and screw combined machine etc.

When you entered the exhibition hall and walked along the sound of cold heading machine, you could see the various cold heading machines. The most machines were small screw heading machine and thread rolling machine with similar structure and performance. Shown the advantages, the machines became bright points at the fastener exhibition.

Facing challenges of market competition, the northern old-brand state-owned factory The Second Qiqihar Machine Tool Factory insists on innovating. They have reformed old type machines such as Z47 multi-station bolt combined series machine, Z41 multi-station nut cold heading series machine, column and shank product multi-station cold heading former so that those machines can meet customers' requirement to produce high value-added products. They exhibited their Z45-63/4 model multi-station shank parts cold heading machine. Its max. cut-off diameter was 10mm, max. cut-off length was 150mm, cavity die knocking out length was 85mm, punch knocking out length was 150mm, slide stroke was 150mm, production speed was 70-180 pcs/min. large volume, high weight and powerful heading force were the characteristics of the machine. It could punch the wire blank to semi-finished product and complex form parts. With advanced safety system and auto testing function, the machine could stop automatically and show malfunction position when it went wrongly.

The rising factory Wuhan Zixiang Hardware Manufacturing Co., Ltd. in middle of China founded in 1997 specializing in producing high value-added fasteners, designing and manufacturing 2 die 4 blow multi-station cold heading machine and blind rivet assembly machine. They brought a Z46-12L/5 model multi-station parts cold heading machine to the exhibition. According to introduction the machine had 5 stations, max. cut-off diameter was 14mm, max cut-off length was 200mm, cavity die knocking out length was 185mm, punch die knocking out length was 35mm, slide stroke was 300mm, production speed was 70pcs/min. The feature of "3 longs" i.e. long shank, long feeding blank and long cavity die knocking-out length made the machine applicable in wide range. Because the machine could produce various fasteners and strange parts, it attracted the visitors' attention.

Dongguan Shixi Enterprise (international) Organization manufactured non-clamp 2 die 3 blow machine firstly in the south of China. Although the company's exhibition stand was located in the inner of the exhibition hall, two pieces of red scrolls writing "the first non-clamp machine in China" conspicuously and attracted many manufacturers and visitors, which made the exhibition stand crowded. The non-clamp 2 die 3 blow parts former with advanced technology and multifunction and high value-added products are very well-known in South and East China and is competitive with foreign machines. The 2 die 3 blow heading machine of Shixi can be used as 2 die 4 blow machine, blind rivet machine and hollow rivet machine. The most important feature of the machine is that non-clamp blank feeding design resolves the clamping problems of the products like big head and short/small shank screw, complicate mini screw that clamp multi-station machine can not produce. So the range of products is very wide including hexagon head screw, multi-stepped screw, big head and short/small shank screw, big head mini shank screw and part, shaft series parts, open series drawing screw and other series.

The fastener & equipment exhibition was better than people expected especially in the screw making machine industry, more than 20 manufacturers shipped 40 sets of fastener making machines to Guangzhou for participating, and we really admired the organizers' ability. Due to the limited length of this article, we can't introduce all manufacturers one by one. But through the items, sample machines and product information at the exhibition, we can feel the current level and development tendency of screw making machines in our country.

Regarding the whole level of screw making machine industry in our country, it is still not high. As there are many factories, the scales are small and some manufacturers compete on ordinary screw making machine in low level. Although there are just a few of multi-station cold heading machine manufacturers, some technology level has been improved to international advanced level and some key technology problems have been solved, however, there's still an obvious distance with foreign famous brands generally, therefore, it is an arduous and important task to develop our screw making machines.
